North Penn Imports is now in its 55th year of business selling Volkswagen and Mazda vehicles at the same location on Route 309, Colmar. The dealership has grown significantly over the decades to match the rapid population growth in the Bucks and Montgomery County regions.

Our History of Growth

• 1971: The original dealership lot opened on 3 acres.

• 1974: A full-service Auto Body Shop was constructed, making the site a full-service VW facility.

• 1976: The owners acquired the MAZDA franchise, introducing the unique line to the Lansdale market.

• 1988 – 1997: Multiple expansions doubled the showroom size, increased parts storage, and expanded service capacity from 10 to 20 bays.

• 2004: The state-of-the-art Volkswagen Marketplace showroom and service center opened—a 25,680-square-foot facility that remains one of the largest in the Tri-State area.

• 2008: The Mazda dealership underwent a complete interior and exterior renovation to meet modern design standards.

• 2011: Acquired the adjacent 2-acre Schwan’s Frozen Foods property for additional vehicle storage and expansion.

• 2020: Mazda Retail Evolution facility construction.

Recent Expansions & New Services

• 2024: North Penn Imports acquired the Mayo Tile property. This strategic purchase allowed for further expansion of the automotive lot to accommodate our growing inventory and customer base.

• 2025: Implemented the UVeye Automated Inspection System, a drive-through AI technology that provides an instant, high-resolution 360° appraisal of every vehicle. This ensures 100% accuracy in fleet evaluations and provides our customers with a transparent, data-driven health report for their own vehicles.

• 2025: Our Detail Center transitioned into its own dedicated, standalone space. This move allowed us to launch premium specialized services, including:

  • Paint Protection Film (PPF)

  • Ceramic Coating

  • Full Interior & Exterior Professional Detailing

• 2026: Significant modernization of our North Penn Imports, Collision Center, including the installation of state-of-the-art paint booths. These updates ensure we continue to provide factory-quality finishes while preparing for even more advanced facility enhancements on the horizon.

Sustainability & Community

Since June 2011, we have been certified as a landfill-free company. We utilize a waste-oil boiler system to heat our workshop floors and recycle over 18 tons of paper and cardboard annually. Every oil filter, battery, and scrap metal piece is processed through dedicated recycling facilities to ensure we remain an industry leader in environmental responsibility.
